In order to optimize the care of patients with diabetes, physicians and other healthcare professionals need the latest scientific data available about diabetes and its interaction with other disease states.
As leaders in diabetes research, education and patient care, Ohio State’s Diabetes and Metabolism Research Center (DMRC) faculty and staff are dedicated to sharing knowledge about advances in the care and treatment of the disease. We provide continuing education to physicians, healthcare professionals and students about the latest evidence-based medicine. In addition we will be hosting for the second time the Global Diabetes Summit, which will allow leading international experts to share the latest research and plans for improving diabetes care.
Educational programs are offered at Ohio State for patients diagnosed with diabetes or pre-diabetes conditions. A key educational resource at Ohio State are the Diabetes Resource Unit Nurses (DURNs) who have additional training to ensure diabetic patients receive optimal care while in the hospital. We believe educating people living with diabetes can help improve their health and prevent long-term diabetes complications.
