Free Diabetes Cooking Demos!

Cooking Demonstrations for Diabetes Patients, Visitors, and Staff

Diabetes Education, along with Nutrition Services, will continue their popular diabetes cooking class.

  • Next Class on 6/19/17
  • Classes every other Monday in Ross Auditorium
  • 12-1pm
  • Look for "Nutrition Services" banner
  • Provided by Colleen Rinehart, BSN, RN, CDE, Program Manager, Diabetes Education and Jim Warner, Program Director, Food and Nutrition

The demonstrations have been expanded to patient families, friends, and staff, in addition to diabetic inpatients at the main campus.

During this cooking class, attendees will watch a demo where foods will be prepared with natural ingredients that are within the American Diabetes Association’s recommended carbohydrate allowance. These recipes add ingredients where there is yogurt used instead of butter and oil, stevia-based sweeteners substituted for sugar, and many more tips you can take home to start to eat better for your health.

Note to Providers: Providers should place an order for Diabetes Educator and place in comments: Cooking Class. This will notify Colleen that the patient is allowed to travel to the class.

Questions?  Send to Colleen at colleen.rinehart@osumc.edu. This class is being provided by grant through the Service Board.
